Company History

ColorCraft Printing opened for business in 1987 in Atascadero, California. Our founder, Joe Nutile literally grew up in a print shop. Joe’s father owned Nugent Printing in Pasadena, California where Joe began working for his dad, at the age of nine, cleaning presses for fifty cents an hour. By the age of 13 he was running the presses and helping in the family-owned business.

Joe left Nugent Printing as a young man and spent the next six years working for other quality print shops from Los Angles to the central coast. As he honed his printing skills, studied at college, and soaked up knowledge from some of the top printers, he decided it was time to settle down and open his own shop. There was never a question of “IF” he would open his own business, but “WHEN?”

1987 was the right time and Joe opened the doors of ColorCraft Printing. Settling into the small town of Atascadero, California, Joe stood strong amongst some heavy competition. It is now almost 30 years later and ColorCraft has grown up to be a leader and business supporter county wide, as well as, one of the few craftsmen left in the industry.

Joe never set out to create a mega-print facility. His goal has always been to grow just enough to accommodate the business and advances in technology, but stay small enough to keep the ink on his hands and the clients happy.
